Citrine Crystal Point - Large

Citrine is any yellow to brownish macrocrystalline variety of quartz. It is often cut into a gemstone and is actually somewhat rare in nature.

Some citrines on the market have been heat treated. Specimens of low grade, inexpensive amethyst or smoky quartz are often heat treated at high temperatures to produce a more profitable gemstone. Citrines produced by heat treating, tend to be more orange or reddish than those found in nature.
