I normally don't buy gemstones on the web because I prefer to see them before buying. However, I was in need of some quickly, couldn't find them locally or on sites where I frequently purchase other jewelry making items. A search using Bing took me to Spencer Lapidary where I found what I was looking for at a reasonable price. I ordered, I think, a dozen items and was unhappy with only one. Not because there was a flaw in it, but because I didn't like the color -- a major reason for not buying such things over the web. The shipping was prompt with a brief handwritten note -- a nice touch. And I was able to complete my Christmas presents with time to spare. I WOULD shop at this site again, but would steer away from colors that can turn out "muddy."

Overall I was very pleased with my purchase. The only downside was that my item was shipped via UPS ground rather than USPS Priority Mail which I selected at checkout. To be fair, they later told me that there was a note on the product page explaining that that item could not be shipped via USPS Priority Flat Rate as it didn't fit in the box. Unfortunately, since I already knew what product I wanted to order, I did not read the entire product page and missed the shipping note. Perhaps in the future, they can offer USPS Priority Mail (not flat rate) for those who need their items sooner? Also, at checkout maybe they could add a note by the Priority Mail choice that says not all items can ship by that method. I would definitely recommend SpencerLapidary.com to others, and I would certainly shop there again!

I am an artist that works with copper. Other metal artists shared the process of using a tumbler to polish metal. I did some initial research of tumblers, stainless steel shot. and the burnishing compound. When I located Spencer Lapidary on the web their site was full of great information. After one phone call I had even more questions answered and was ready to order. My tumbler arrived quickly and it has proven to be the answer to a high polish without the long hours at the polishing wheel. The friendly one on one conversation and knowledge of products was outstanding! I have already recommended them to other artists.
